Critical Insight
The Key to Solving Problems

Critical Insight happens when the presentation of information makes its features obvious. It is the creative ability of the mind to derive new facts, methods, and plans of actions as the result of getting the right information at the right time. This is not just a service: it requires a deep understanding of a system and its users. It’s a smarter way to work. It will change the way you think about technology solutions.

Our team of professionals understands and addresses the challenges at hand while at the same time maintaining a clear awareness and appreciation of the big picture. Our mission is driven by our users who rely on a new class of insightful, intuitive, and efficient technology solutions.

Data Visualization and Presentation

At Next Century, our mantra for user interfaces is “at a glance.” After all, for many of our applications, end users need answers right now. They simply don’t have the time to navigate through a hierarchical menu of commands to get to time-sensitive information. We work closely with our end users to identify the information that is most critical to them in performing their job or mission, and then prototype interfaces with innovative methods for presenting that information in a highly intuitive and rapidly actionable fashion.

Data Fusion and Aggregation

Mining, integrating, fusing, and aggregating relevant information from multiple data sources is a formidable challenge. At Next Century, we incorporate our own leading-edge innovations to effectively achieve this goal. A unique Next Century talent is the ability to aggregate and de-aggregate data over time, leading to valuable capabilities such as temporal de-cluttering. Our extensive background in developing high-performance implementations of complex algorithms is especially beneficial in this domain.

Predictive Analysis

Thanks to significant advances in computer power, data storage, and networking, Next Century is delivering systems that provide accurate situational awareness for the war fighter, first responder, and intelligence analyst. Our goal, however, is far more ambitious. There is great potential for these systems to become predictive, which is where their significant life-saving potential lies. By anticipating events before they occur, we can mitigate their impact, or even prevent a disaster from occurring.

Our Technology Solutions

Next Century’s portfolio contains some of our innovative technology services. Browse through them to see how and where we’ve used them along with detailed case studies for each.

Of course, the technologies we provide are only as good as the people who create them. That’s why we are always seeking those who are forever in “learning mode”; those who have an insatiable desire to find the best, most efficient, and most reliable solution to the technology challenges we face.

Mission Focused

Every situation is different. Every customer is different. Every scenario has its own set of issues. Knowing that, why would we try to retrofit our services to a customer’s needs? We wouldn’t and we don’t.

Every Next Century solution is created with one thing in mind. Your specific needs.

Our Process
Agile Development

What is Agile Development?

At Next Century we employ Agile Development. Agile development is defined as methodologies for developing software iteratively, using collaborative and cross-functional, self-organizing teams delivering solutions that evolve over time. A common set of practices have emerged from these methodologies as tools to help the team better define what problems they are trying to solve, how to solve them, and in which order.  Understanding how the user will interact to meet their goals provides Critical Insight to the Agile team in helping to shape stories, priorities, and validation.

We believe in an integrated Agile Development team wherein a UX professionals work side-by-side with developer teammates to craft designs that are technologically feasible and meet customer goals.  At Next Century, our UX professionals are fully committed and engaged members of the team.

What are the benefits of Agile Development?

With Agile development, feature development cycles are short, allowing teams to remain flexible and work on features that are important as problems arise and needs change. Agile also emphasizes communication, and  provides a stable framework in which to engage the team on what can and should be accomplished.

At Next Century, we adjust our Agile methodologies based on what is right for the Stakeholder’s project management practices. We aim to be as lean as needed to emphasize efficiencies in development and delivering products and services faster to end users.
